You will find nitrate in many fertilizers you may use on a farm or gardens. You will also find nitrate in human sewage that comes form your home each time you flush a toilet. Animal waste is another substance that can contain nitrates. 

Nitrate can come through groundwater or water that seeps onto the surface. If you have an underground water well, you have a higher chance of having this contaminant as the water comes directly into the well from underground.

If you have high levels of nitrate, this can cause problems with your body having the ability to carry the right amount of oxygen. This is extremely dangerous for babies and young children.
